Newton South has gone a perfect 3-0 against Waltham recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Lions are taking a road trip to take on the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Newton South took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Boston Latin Academy 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted since April 26, 2024.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Newton South who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 23-25, 25-23, 22-25, 16-14.

Meanwhile, Waltham got the win against Belmont on Thursday by a conclusive 3-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hawks.

Waltham never let Belmont on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-16, 25-22.

Newton South's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2-1. As for Waltham, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Everything went Newton South's way against Waltham in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Newton South made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
