Recap: Green City Gophers vs. Platte Valley co-op [South Nodaway/Jefferson]
After a string of six wins, the Green City Gophers's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 59-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Platte Valley co-op [South Nodaway/Jefferson]. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Green City has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Green City lost, one person who can't be blamed is Asher Buggs-Tipton. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with seven rebounds. Buggs-Tipton scored a full 41.3% of Green City's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Noah Tipton was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Green City's loss dropped their record down to 6-1. As for Platte Valley co-op [South Nodaway/Jefferson], the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Green City will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Princeton at 7:30 p.m. on December 18th. Princeton is on a five-game streak of home wins, Green City a 11-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Platte Valley co-op [South Nodaway/Jefferson] will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on DeKalb at 7:30 p.m. on February 2, 2024.
