Basketball Recap: Smith Valley Turns Things Around After Road Loss

Smith Valley's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Virginia City on Tuesday. The Smith Valley Bulldogs narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Coleville Wolves 31-29. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 64-41 loss the last time these two teams met.

Coleville lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kenna Lange, who posted 15 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Lange has been hot, having also posted four or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ashley Tovar, who earned eight points in addition to ten steals and five boards.

Smith Valley's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Coleville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-10.

Smith Valley won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Sierra Sage Academy/Right Of Passage at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Coleville, they will challenge Mineral County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Coleville is facing Mineral County at the right time seeing as Mineral County is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
