Preview: Dr. Krop Lightning vs. American Patriots
The Dr. Krop Lightning will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the American Patriots at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Dr. Krop posted their biggest win since December 7, 2023 on Tuesday. They blew past Monsignor Pace 68-46. The win made it back-to-back wins for Dr. Krop.
Dr. Krop got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Joseph Washington out in front who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds. Washington is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmanuel Ferguson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, American scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 86-34 win over Miami Springs at home. Given American's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while Miami Springs is ranked 752nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The win got Dr. Krop back to even at 7-7. As for American, their win bumped their record up to 11-8.
Dr. Krop couldn't quite finish off American when the teams last played back in December of 2021 and fell 45-42. Thankfully for Dr. Krop, Jaden Piner (who scored 16 points along with two steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
