Basketball Game Preview: Moorhead Spuds vs. Red River Roughriders

The Moorhead Spuds will take on the Red River Roughriders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Moorhead knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 19 matches -- so hopefully Red River likes a good challenge.

Moorhead took a loss when they played away from home last Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They walked away with an 80-69 win over Elk River. Given the Spuds' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Elks are ranked 234th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Red River entered their tilt with Fargo North on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victor by a 90-70 margin over the Spartans.

Moorhead has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.0 points over those games. As for Red River, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-4.
