Softball Recap: Four Straight Road Wins for Tombstone

Tombstone never let their opponents score on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over the Santa Rita Eagles. The result was nothing new for the Yellow Jackets, who have now won nine games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Kyla Gross made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Tombstone got a massive performance out of McKenzy Nicoll, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits Nicoll has posted since back in March. Bella Lopez was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while going 3-for-3.

Tombstone's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-12. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Santa Rita, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tombstone will challenge Bisbee at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Yellow Jackets will need to watch out since the Pumas have now posted at least ten runs in their last six matchups. As for Santa Rita, they will face off against San Miguel at 5:45 p.m. on the 22nd.
