Baseball Recap: Central Islip Comes Up Short

Central Islip was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 22nd straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Riverhead Blue Waves. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 16, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Yendry Hernandez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

Central Islip's defeat dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Riverhead, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2.

While Central Islip had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
