Baseball Game Preview: Eastern Mennonite Flames vs. Fishburne Military Caissons

Eastern Mennonite hasn't had much luck against Fishburne Military recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Flames will take on the Caissons at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Mennonite has given up an average of 11.4 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Eastern Mennonite came up short against North Cross on Tuesday, falling 27-11.

Grant Lehman and Cyrus Diener did some serious damage despite the final result: Lehman went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Diener went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and one stolen base. Diener has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Mason Showalter also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Fishburne Military and Blue Ridge had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Caissons fell 7-3 to the Barons on Thursday. Caissons fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Barons since Thursday.

Fishburne Military saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Ezersky, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Eastern Mennonite's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Fishburne Military, they suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 5-4.

Saturday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Eastern Mennonite has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .455. However, it's not like Fishburne Military struggles in that department as they've averaged .441. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Eastern Mennonite couldn't quite get it done against Fishburne Military in their previous matchup back in March as they fell 9-4. Can the Flames avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
