Recap: Watertown Purple Tigers vs. LEAD Academy Panthers
The Watertown Purple Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting LEAD Academy an easy 70-47 victory. While losing is never fun, Watertown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while LEAD Academy is ranked 136th).
Among those leading the charge was Darnell Seay, who scored 18 points. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for him. Brandon Fields was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds.
Watertown's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for LEAD Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Watertown will head out on the road to face off against DeKalb County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. DeKalb County will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. LEAD Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Southern Guilford at 6:00 p.m. on December 28th. Southern Guilford will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
