Softball Game Preview: Molalla Indians vs. Rogue River Chieftains

The Molalla Indians are taking a road trip to challenge the Rogue River Chieftains at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Molalla was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts on Friday. The Indians never let the Mustangs get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by nine runs or more this season.

Brenna Jackson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josie Brooks, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Kalea Lopes also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rogue River). They blew past Sisters 19-2 last Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Chieftains with their most commanding win of the season.

Molalla's record now sits at 4-2. As for Rogue River, their record is now 3-1.
