Recap: UMS-Wright Prep Bulldogs vs. Baker Hornets
The UMS-Wright Prep Bulldogs were the 61-57 winner over the Baker Hornets when they last played one another back in November of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. UMS-Wright Prep was beaten by Baker 65-36 on Friday. While losing is never fun, UMS-Wright Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 247th, while Baker is ranked 18th).
Lovalle Nelson jr was the offensive standout of the game as he scored 13 points along with 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Derrick Florence lll, who scored 8 points along with 5 assists and 4 steals.
This is the second loss in a row for UMS-Wright Prep and nudges their season record down to 2-7. As for Baker, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
UMS-Wright Prep will head out on the road to face off against Mobile Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Mobile Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests. As for Baker, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Vigor at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Vigor has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 441 points over their last six games.
