Volleyball Recap: Jerrian Taylor and Layla Hunt Secure Win for Fairmont

Fairmont's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They blew past the St. Pauls Bulldogs 3-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-1 two weeks ago.

Fairmont not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept St. Pauls between 15 and 17 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-15, 25-17.

Leading Fairmont to victory were Layla Hunt and Jerrian Taylor. Hunt had 15 assists and nine aces, while Taylor had 14 digs and eight aces. With that strong performance, Hunt is now averaging an impressive 2.6 aces per game.

They weren't the only good server: Fairmont was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 19 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Fairmont's win bumped their record up to 2-6. As for St. Pauls, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Looking ahead, Fairmont will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Lumberton at 4:30 p.m. The Pirates will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Golden Tornadoes surely won't give up without a fight. As for St. Pauls, they will challenge Terry Sanford at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
