Basketball Recap: Brooke Schaefer's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fleming over Idalia

Fleming lost against Idalia last Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Fleming Wildcats took a 52-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Idalia Wolves.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brooke Schaefer, who posted ten points and five steals. Ashley Bornhoft was another key player, putting up four points and five boards.

It was another big night for Jaylyn Kechter, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds for Idalia. The dominant performance also gave Kechter a new career-high in blocks (four). Another player making a difference was Krista Wieser, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten boards.

Fleming's defeat dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Idalia, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-4.

Fleming and Idalia should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. Fleming (ranked 74th) will meet Creede (ranked 234th) at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Idalia will face off against Weldon Valley at 2:00 p.m. on Friday up 198 places (37 vs. 235).
