Soccer Game Preview: Timothy Christian vs. Phoenix Military

The Timothy Christian Trojans will take on the Phoenix Military Firebirds at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Timothy Christian is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Wheaton Academy on Tuesday. The Trojans fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, Timothy Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 155th, while Wheaton Academy are ranked 26th).

Meanwhile, Phoenix Military was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Prosser.

Timothy Christian's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 8-6-1. As for Phoenix Military, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8-1.

Everything went Timothy Christian's way against Phoenix Military in their previous matchup back in October of 2018, as Timothy Christian made off with a 5-0 win. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Firebirds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
