Basketball Recap: Kylie Sanchez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Van Horn over Marathon

Van Horn lost against Marathon back in November and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Van Horn Eagles took a 33-24 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marathon Mustangs. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kylie Sanchez, who posted nine points and three steals. Those nine points gave Sanchez a new career-high. Violet Garcia was another key player, putting up four points along with five boards and three steals.

Van Horn's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Marathon, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Van Horn will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Iraan at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Marathon also won't see the court for a while: their next match is against Buena Vista at 6:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
