Recap: Gulliver Prep Raiders vs. Ransom Everglades Raiders
The Gulliver Prep Raiders lost against the Ransom Everglades Raiders back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Gulliver Prep was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 40-39 to Ransom Everglades.
Despite the loss, Gulliver Prep saw an underclassman step up: Mikayla Brown scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Brown scored a full 41% of Gulliver Prep's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Allison Podvin was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Gulliver Prep's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Ransom Everglades, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-8.
Gulliver Prep will be playing at home against Mater Academy Charter at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Mater Academy Charter will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 407th, while Gulliver Prep is ranked 151st). Ransom Everglades won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Key West at 4:00 p.m. on January 12th. Key West is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
