Softball Recap: Pioneer Valley Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Pioneer Valley and Woodlake squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Pioneer Valley had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 4-3.

Ciena Acosta was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kianna Real made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Natalia Rocha was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Pioneer Valley's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-13. As for Woodlake, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 30-1.

As of now, neither Pioneer Valley nor the Tigers have any future games scheduled.
