The Crivitz Wolverines will face off against the Almond-Bancroft Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Crivitz had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 17-run drubbing they dealt Gillett on Monday. The Wolverines never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory. The Wolverines haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Taryn Tracy made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with one home run and four RBI.
In other batting news, Izzy Wesoloski was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Hattie Frievalt, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, two triples, and one RBI.
Crivitz kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 24 hits. They are 17-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Almond-Bancroft hadn't done well against Pacelli recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Eagles blew past the Cardinals 11-0.
Like Crivitz, Almond-Bancroft also got a great game from a two-way player: Riya Ceballos. She didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Ceballos was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, eight RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Sophia Chapa was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Dernbach, who went 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.
Almond-Bancroft's victory bumped their record up to 15-1. As for Crivitz, their win bumped their record up to 18-4.
Crivitz's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Wolverines have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Almond-Bancroft, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Crivitz continue to outrun the ball?
Crivitz suffered a grim 16-1 defeat to Almond-Bancroft when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Wolverines have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
