Baseball Recap: Penobscot Valley Triumphs

Penobscot Valley owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Monday. They walked away with a 3-0 victory over the Schenck Wolverines. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Howlers also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2025.

Not much got past Noah Austin, who gave up just seven hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Schenck off the board. With that strong performance, Austin is now averaging an impressive 5.8 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, Scott Lane was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ryan Dawson, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Penobscot Valley and bumps their season record up to 4-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Schenck, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Penobscot Valley will challenge rival Bangor Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Schenck is set to take on their familiar foe Lee Academy at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
