Recap: Ashe County Huskies vs. Mountain Heritage Cougars
The Ashe County Huskies fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Mountain Heritage Cougars on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 53-52 to the Cougars. Ashe County's defeat continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Mountain Heritage was led to victory by Jace Loven and Cason Jones. Loven scored 15 points, while Jones scored 10 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Loven has scored at least 25% of Mountain Heritage's points. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Adams, who scored 8 points.
Ashe County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Mountain Heritage, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Ashe County will head out on the road to face off against Newton-Conover at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Newton-Conover focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Thursday. As for Mountain Heritage, they will be playing at home against NCSSM: Morganton at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
