Softball Recap: Jimtown Has No Trouble Against Laville

Jimtown had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 20-run drubbing they dealt LaVille on Tuesday. The Jimmies blew past the Lancers 23-3. The Jimmies haven't had any issues with the Lancers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Lilly Gaugler and Kiyla Eberhart made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Gaugler tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Eberhart tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Gaugler has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Gaugler got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Eberhart went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. That's the most runs Gaugler has posted over her last seven matchups.

In other batting news, Kendal McPhee and Abigail Williams did most of the damage at the plate: McPhee got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Williams went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most runs Williams has posted over her last three contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Skyler Pello, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Jimtown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as LaVille only managed four hits.

Jimtown's record is now 11-7. As for LaVille, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.

Looking ahead, Jimtown will head out to face off against Glenn at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Jimmies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for LaVille, they will be playing at home against Knox at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
