Preview: Annenberg Panthers vs. Central City Value Jaguars
Annenberg is 2-8 against Central City Value since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Annenberg Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Central City Value Jaguars at 3:30 p.m. on January 19th. Annenberg will be strutting in after a win while Central City Value will be coming in after a loss.
Annenberg can finally bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They came out on top against Animo Bunche by a score of 47-40. The victory was just what Annenberg needed coming off of a 71-29 loss in their prior contest.
Central City Value suffered their biggest loss since December 6, 2023 on Tuesday. Their tough 72-47 defeat to Downtown Magnets might stick with them for a while. Central City Value has struggled against Downtown Magnets recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite their loss, Central City Value saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Leonel Chavez, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and three blocks, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Andy Lobos, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Annenberg's victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-8. As for Central City Value, they bumped their record down to 5-11 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Things could have been worse for Annenberg, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 41-27 loss to Central City Value in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Annenberg avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
