Football Recap: Barnwell Takes a Loss

Barnwell fell victim to South Aiken and their airtight defense on Friday. They were outmatched by the Thoroughbreds and fell 49-0. The Warhorses lost against the Thoroughbreds in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 31-26 score last time.

South Aiken got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tommy Burns III out in front who threw for 222 yards and four touchdowns. Another pass catcher making a difference was Keon Raysor, who picked up 151 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

This is the second loss in a row for Barnwell and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for South Aiken, the win also got them back to even at 2-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Barnwell will face off against Swansea at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' defense has only allowed 8.5 points per game this season, so the Warhorses' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for South Aiken, they will square off against Brookland-Cayce at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 875 yards in their previous games.
