Softball Game Preview: Dilley Wolves vs. Natalia Mustangs

Dilley hasn't had much luck against Natalia recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Wolves will welcome the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Dilley has given up an average of 8.6 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Dilley is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Friday. They came up short against Lytle, falling 14-6.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Natalia, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over Cotulla on Friday.

Arabella Gallegos spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, Anaya Jones was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Selyene Gallegos, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Jones wasn't the only one making solid contact: Natalia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.

Natalia has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Dilley, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-15.
