Football Game Preview: Newburyport Clippers vs. North Reading Hornets + Official Tickets

Newburyport hasn't had much luck against North Reading recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Clippers will take on the Hornets at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Newburyport earned a 28-21 win over Triton Regional. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Clippers.

Newburyport's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bode Pessolano, who rushed for 64 yards and two scores, and also threw for 162 yards and one touchdown on only 13 passes. Reid Tummala was Pessolano's top target, picking up 52 receiving yards and one TD, while also rushing for 59 yards.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for North Reading, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They strolled past Pentucket Regional with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 47-28. The Hornets haven't had any issues with Pentucket Regional recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-5. As for North Reading, their record is now 6-1.

Newburyport came up short against North Reading in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 42-34. Can the Clippers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
