Soccer Recap: Marion Takes a Loss

After some red-hot attacks on offense in their last three matches, Marion finally came back down to earth on Friday. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Saxony Lutheran Crusaders who were credited with the victory. The Saxony Lutheran Crusaders got it done in the shootout by posting two goals to the Marion Wildcats' one. The loss was Marion's first of the season.

Their goal came courtesy of Libbie Garrett, who's now up to two this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Marion fell to 6-1. As for Saxony Lutheran, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Looking ahead, Marion will challenge Alton at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Marion are facing Alton at the right time seeing as Alton are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Saxony Lutheran, they will face off against St. Charles East at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
