The Legacy Lions will face off against the Sebastian River Sharks at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Legacy has six straight victories, Sebastian River has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
On Thursday, Legacy got the win against Treasure Coast by a conclusive 3-0.
The final score came out to 25-15, 25-6, 25-18.
Legacy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Paisley Woods, who had nine digs and five assists, and Tianna McLeod, who had six assists and four aces. That's the most assists Woods has posted since back in August. Madison Jurek also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
They weren't the only good servers: Legacy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 18 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in six consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Sebastian River came up short against Martin County on Wednesday, falling 3-0.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-13, 25-13.
Legacy will have to keep a close watch on Elizabeth Bryant and Molly Reiman, a pair of players who had a big impact on Sebastian River's prior game. Bryant had three digs and two aces, while Reiman had eight digs.
Sebastian River's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Legacy, their win bumped their record up to 18-7.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Monday's contest: Legacy has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 10.8 aces per game. However, it's not like Sebastian River struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.6 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Legacy took their victory against Sebastian River in their previous meeting back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Sharks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
