Basketball Recap: Sunnyslope Takes Down Ranked Millennium

On Thursday, Sunnyslope faced Millennium in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Sunnyslope Vikings managed a 72-66 win over the Millennium Tigers. This was a revenge game for the Vikings: when they faced off against the Tigers last Thursday, they had to take a 74-66 loss.

Sunnyslope got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Darius Wabbington out in front who went 10-for-15 en route to 24 points and six boards. What's more, Wabbington also posted a 60% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in January of 2024. Rider Portela was another key player, putting up 19 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists.

Sunnyslope is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points over those games. As for Millennium, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7.

Coincidentally, Sunnyslope and Millennium will both be playing Corona del Sol the next time they take the court. Sunnyslope will head out to face Corona del Sol at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, while Millennium will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
