Football Recap: Coalinga Comes Up Short

Coalinga played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Templeton Eagles 47-14. The Horned Toads were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-14.

Despite the loss, Coalinga had strong showings from Tyson Alvarado, who rushed for 77 yards and one touchdown, and Gracin Redding, who rushed for 87 yards and one TD.

Templeton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Colby Sims out in front who picked up 177 receiving yards and three scores. Those 177 receiving yards gave Sims a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Colter Tannehill, who threw for 246 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes.

Having lost for the first time this season, Coalinga fell to 2-1. As for Templeton, the win made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Coalinga wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 62-22 victory against Sierra Pacific on the 11th. As for Templeton, they have also already played their next game, a 35-0 win against Gonzales on the 12th.
