Football Game Preview: West Jefferson Roughriders vs. Triad Cardinals

West Jefferson is a perfect 8-0 against Triad since October of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Roughriders are taking a road trip to face off against the Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (West Jefferson has six straight wins, Triad has 14 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, West Jefferson beat Northeastern 42-36.

Austin Buescher continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 110 yards and a pair of TDs on only 14 carries, while also throwing for 279 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt. Those 110 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. West Jefferson's leading receiver Jeremy Jester was Buescher's top target yet again, picking up 159 receiving yards and one score.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Triad's offense. They had to suffer through a 62-0 loss at the hands of Mechanicsburg. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 674th, while the Indians are ranked 279th).

Triad's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for West Jefferson, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.

Everything came up roses for West Jefferson against Triad when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 34-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Roughriders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
