Softball Recap: Mulvane Wins Going Away Against Wellington

Mulvane got themselves on the board against Wellington on Monday, but Wellington never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Crusaders with a sharp 6-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now won six in a row.

Not much got past Sophie Bruce, who gave up just three hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Wellington off the board. Those ten strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Bruce.

At the plate, Olivia Ellis was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Bailey Hall, who went 4-for-5 with one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Mulvane kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 4-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Mulvane's win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Wellington, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Mulvane beat the Crusaders by a score of 6-5 later that day.
