Softball Recap: Osbourn Park Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

Osbourn Park never let their opponents score on Friday. They put the hurt on the Unity Reed Lions with a sharp 16-0 victory. The Yellowjackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by nine runs or more this season.

Lizzie Williams was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Williams was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Osbourn Park got a massive performance out of Mia Gamble, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Caitlyn Abel, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Osbourn Park always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .867. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Osbourn Park is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Unity Reed, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8.

Looking ahead, Osbourn Park will challenge Eastern View at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cyclones will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Yellowjackets surely won't give up without a fight. As for Unity Reed, they will square off against Mount Vernon at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Majors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.67 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of.
