Softball Recap: Enterprise Hornets vs. Foothill Cougars
Enterprise had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 5-12 to make it five. They lost 9-3 to the Foothill Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-0 back in April.
Enterprise saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sadie Ross, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.
As for Foothill, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-5-1. Considering they have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
On Foothill's side, Elisea Wiegand was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. Wiegand has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, TatiAnna Seuasoukseng was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Malia Webb, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Coincidentally, Enterprise and Foothill will both be playing Red Bluff the next time they take the field. The Cougars will host the Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Hornets will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
