Baseball Recap: Camarillo Drops Highest Score of Season Against Oak Park

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Camarillo). Everything went their way against the Oak Park Eagles on Wednesday as they made off with a 16-0 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Ryan Coyne looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Camarillo is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-15 otherwise.

At the plate, Brayden Smith was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Jordan Gonzalez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Camarillo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 11.8.

The win made it two in a row for Camarillo and bumps their season record up to 12-16. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Oak Park, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-15-1.

As of now, neither Camarillo nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
