The Scotland Christian Academy Saints are taking a road trip to take on the Southside Christian Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Scotland Christian Academy put up the most runs they have all season on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Living Water Christian as they made off with a 22-3 victory. The win was nothing new for the Saints as they're now sitting on three straight.
Scotland Christian Academy got a massive performance out of James Sheffield, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. Kadin Mintar was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.
Scotland Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Living Water Christian only posted a batting average of .091.
Meanwhile, the third road game was the charm for Southside Christian, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They blew past Living Water Christian 19-6 on Friday. With that win, Southside Christian brought their scoring average up to 7.8 runs per game.
Jackson Simmons was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3. Those runs marked the first that he scored this season.
In other batting news, Landon Pourron and Jason Burke did most of the damage at the plate: Pourron scored three runs while going 2-for-3, while Burke scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave Burke a new career-high. Zeke Ragan also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Scotland Christian Academy pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Southside Christian, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal.
