Basketball Recap: North Medford Takes a Loss

North Medford lost to Sheldon back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Black Tornado were beaten by the Irish 85-47. While losing is never fun, the Black Tornado can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 165th, while the Irish are ranked 43rd).

When it comes to explaining why North Medford lost, don't look at Liam Rea. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine boards. Rea has become a key player for the Black Tornado: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least eight rebounds, but 4-17 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Za-Khyem Tuivanu-Robinson, who posted nine points.

North Medford has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That lines up perfectly with their 6-18 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.1 points over those games. As for Sheldon, their win bumped their record up to 18-7.

As of now, neither North Medford nor the Irish have any future games scheduled.
