Basketball Recap: Hughes Piles Up the Points Against Western Brown

Hughes had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the Western Brown Broncos, posting a 69-27 victory. Given the BIG RED's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while the Broncos are ranked 655th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hughes is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points over those games. Western Brown is on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-17.

Looking ahead, Hughes is taking a road trip to challenge La Salle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Western Brown does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
