Basketball Game Preview: Veterans Memorial Patriots vs. Smithson Valley Rangers

The Veterans Memorial Patriots will head out to square off against the Smithson Valley Rangers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses apiece.

Last Friday, Veterans Memorial didn't have quite enough to beat Incarnate Word and fell 58-56.

Meanwhile, Smithson Valley played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Tivy, falling 59-32. While losing is never fun, the Rangers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 563rd, while the Antlers are ranked 175th).

Veterans Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 6-26. As for Smithson Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-23.

Veterans Memorial strolled past Smithson Valley in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 47-32. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Smithson Valley's Cyanna Cavazos, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 steals.
