Preview: Southeast Golden Buffalo vs. Kapaun Mt. Carmel Crusaders
Southeast and Kapaun Mt. Carmel are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The Southeast Golden Buffalo will head out on the road to face off against the Kapaun Mt. Carmel Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Southeast had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell 57-49 to Bishop Carroll.
Despite their defeat, Southeast saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ma'khiyah Jones, who scored 16 points along with 6 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Alana Webb, who scored 22 points.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Kapaun Mt. Carmel on the road against North on Friday as the team secured a 68-28 victory.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kapaun Mt. Carmel to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lizzie Romer, who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Spiers, who scored 13 points.
Southeast's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Kapaun Mt. Carmel, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Southeast was able to grind out a solid victory over Kapaun Mt. Carmel in their previous matchup back in February, winning 51-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for Southeast since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
