Baseball Game Preview: Beverly Panthers vs. Peabody Veterans Memorial Tanners

The Beverly Panthers will take on the Peabody Veterans Memorial Tanners at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Monday, Beverly didn't have quite enough to beat Gloucester and fell 4-3. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Fishermen recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Graham Gavin was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out 11 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Callan McCay was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Mikey O'Leary also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Peabody Veterans Memorial waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Highlanders with a sharp 13-2 victory. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Tanners this season.

Beverly now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Peabody Veterans Memorial, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
