Baseball Game Preview: Lexington Yellowjackets vs. South Davidson Wildcats

Lexington is on a 13-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and South Davidson a four-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Tuesday. The Lexington Yellowjackets will be playing in front of their home fans against the South Davidson Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Lexington has given up an average of 19.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Lexington came up short against East Davidson on Friday, falling 18-2.

Jordon Summers was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-1.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between South Davidson and North Rowan, and North Rowan kept the tradition alive. South Davidson fell just short of North Rowan by a score of 11-10 on Monday.

South Davidson saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ronnie Benfield, who scored four runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave Benfield a new career-high. Another was Dalin Johnson, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

South Davidson's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Lexington, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Lexington suffered a grim 21-5 defeat to South Davidson in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Lexington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
