Baseball Recap: North White Vikings vs. North Newton Spartans
North White fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against North Newton on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans. The Vikings' loss continues a trend for the team, making it nine in a row.
Charlie Williams put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Williams was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season.
Williams wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mason DeBoard, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Isaiah Howard also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
North White's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for North Newton, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-14.
Coming up, North White will host Attica at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for North Newton, they will head out to face off against Kouts at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
