Ruidoso (N.M.) kept up a steady attack all game long to beat
Hot Springs (Truth or Consequences, N.M.), 35-13, on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a
Bryce Pompos touchdown pass to
Ismail LaPaz in the first quarter, the Warriors led 13-0 at the half.
Ruidoso expanded its lead to 21 points entering the fourth quarter. RHS scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Pompos.
The Tigers'
Natividad Villa was the standout player for his team. The senior quarterback ran for one touchdown. He has now scored three touchdowns on the season.
The Warriors' standout player in the win was Pompos. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored five touchdowns on the season.
Ruidoso got revenge for last year's 56-38 loss to Hot Springs with the victory.
The loss was the third in a row for HS. With the win RHS extended its winning streak to three games.
Ruidoso (3-0) goes up against West Las Vegas in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Hot Springs (0-3) locks horns with Lordsburg also in a non-conference game.
