Soccer Game Preview: Emerson vs. Lebanon Trail

The Emerson Mavericks will venture away from home to take on the Lebanon Trail Trail Blazers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Emerson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.8 goals per game this season.

Lebanon Trail better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Emerson really gets things going. Emerson was the clear victors by a 5-0 margin over Independence on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Mavericks in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won four in a row.

Emerson hit Independence with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Aden Mathews (2), Amir Tashmukhamedov, Logan Taylor, and John Pacheco.

Meanwhile, Lebanon Trail was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Frisco.

Lebanon Trail's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Emerson, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.

Emerson took their victory against Lebanon Trail when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Emerson since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
