Football Recap: Isaac Repscher Key Part of Team Effort in Tornadoes Win

Taylorville's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 28-21 win over the Effingham Hearts. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tornadoes also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

Taylorville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isaac Repscher led the charge by throwing for 204 yards and two TDs, while also rushing for 66 yards. Owen Mateer helped out on the ground, rushing for 83 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Effingham's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lexton Roberts, who rushed for 116 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries. Roberts' longest rush was for an impressive 60 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another player making a difference was Maxx Kistler, who picked up 108 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-3. As for Effingham, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-2.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Taylorville is set to challenge their familiar foe Mattoon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Effingham will face off against rival Mahomet-Seymour at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
