Softball Recap: Catholic Central Takes a Loss

If Catholic Central was riding high fresh off their 12-1 takedown of Stivers School for the Arts on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Irish lost 20-4 to the Mechanicsburg Indians on Friday. The Irish haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Isabella Lopez made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in both of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Those stolen bases were her first of the season.

Catholic Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Mechanicsburg, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Catholic Central will take on Greeneview at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Irish's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 10.6 runs per game this season. As for Mechanicsburg, they will square off against West Liberty-Salem at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
