Volleyball Recap: Belmont Takes Down USC Hybrid in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Belmont walked away with it. They came out on top against the USC Hybrid Trojans by a score of 3-1 on Monday.

The victory didn't come easy: USC Hybrid scored at least 18 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 24-26, 25-21, 25-18.

USC Hybrid lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Marcelo Sousa, who had 30 digs, nine aces, and one block. He has been hot recently, having posted 20 or more digs the last three times he's played. Francisco Sandoval was another key player, getting 50 digs.

Belmont's win bumped their record up to 6-13. As for USC Hybrid, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-7.

Coming up, Belmont will face off against Burton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Scorpions will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Sentinels surely won't give up without a fight. USC Hybrid does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
