Basketball Game Preview: DSST: Cedar Falcons vs. Kennedy Commanders

The DSST: Cedar Falcons will square off against the Kennedy Commanders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

DSST: Cedar is coming into the matchup on the come-up as their season has now been buoyed by two straight wins. They came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 67-62 W against DMLK.

Meanwhile, Kennedy didn't have too much trouble with KIPP Denver Collegiate on Tuesday as they won 90-75.

DSST: Cedar better keep an eye on Anthony Zink. He was instrumental in Kennedy's win, shooting 5-for-6 from downtown and dropping a double-double with 34 points and ten rebounds. What's more, Zink also posted an 83% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Xavier Benavidez was another key player, going 7-for-14 en route to 16 points and six steals.

Kennedy was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Kennedy's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for DSST: Cedar, their win bumped their record up to an identical 5-10.

DSST: Cedar beat Kennedy 69-59 when the teams last played back in February of 2025. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Benavidez, who shot 46% from the field on his way to 17 points and six boards. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Falcons still be able to contain Benavidez? There's only one way to find out.
