Baseball Game Preview: Shelby Valley Wildcats vs. Hazard Bulldogs / Lady Bulldogs

The Shelby Valley Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Hazard Bulldogs / Lady Bulldogs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hazard took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Shelby Valley, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with nine defeats in a row, Shelby Valley turned things around against Letcher County Central on Thursday. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Cougars.

Meanwhile, Hazard has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.26 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They lost 15-5 to South Warren. The Bulldogs / Lady Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Evan Akemon was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Tucker Napier, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Hazard's loss dropped their record down to 19-4. As for Shelby Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 5-17.
