Baseball Recap: Lafayette Finds Home Field Redemption Against York

There's no place like home for Lafayette, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They never let the York Falcons get on the board and left with a 5-0 win on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Rams: when they faced off against the Falcons back in April, they had to take a 7-6 loss.

The result came thanks to Brady Isaksen's shutout, as he gave up just six hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lafayette let Derek Magallon and Jake Hanson run wild. Magallon went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base, while Hanson went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave Hanson a new career-high. Ian Ji was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Lafayette pushed their record up to 8-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for York, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lafayette will venture away from home to challenge Grafton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games the Clippers have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for York, they will head out on the road to face off against First Colonial at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something the Falcons surely won't give up without a fight.
